Michaela Budde (Micha)
they/she
Micha has always been imaginative, deeply empathetic, and seeking to understand and visualize how we create a more just world. She has expressed herself through art, including painting, drawing, and dance, since she was young.
Mariposa Effect Arte is the culmination of many years reconnecting with her artist-self. She is now sharing her art through her online store and vending events in the Bay Area.

Inspiration

Culture
As a mixed-race, Black, Latina, and White, Queer person, Micha’s lived experience has informed their perspective and messaging in their art. Micha is especially influenced by their Mexican cultural roots.

Afro-Futurism
Micha is deeply inspired by Afro-Futurist writers like Octavia E. Butler and N.K. Jemisin. Micha feels the most alive when imagining and building towards a sustainable and equitable reality.

Organizing
Engaging in community organizing is what makes Micha’s radical imagination come to life. When we come together to organize and create, the humane world we deserve becomes a little more real.

“the role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible”
